Looking for Camera Recommendations...

I'm looking for a new digital camera. I had a little Sony point and shoot and the screen broke a while ago. It's really not worth it for me to have it repaired so I was looking to upgrade to a Compact System camera.

I was looking at both the Samsung NX1000 and the Nikon 1. Does anyone have any recommendations or have any experience with either? I'm really not looking to do anything with it professionally, I just really would like something between a point and shoot and a dSLR. I'm tired of not getting the quality photos that I want with just a little compact point and shoot.

Any advice is welcome!!

I don't have experience with either brand. I usually get a canon. However, I have heard good things about the Nikon 1 {it takes nice pictures and is easy to use}.

The Nikon is by far the best!! It's a much higher quality, and they typically last longer. They're a little more expensive, but well worth the money.

I have a Nikon (not the same as the one you're looking at). It takes really high quality photos, but it doesn't always take the photo in a timely fashion. Just make sure you play with them in the store if you can!

Both are really good brands! I have the Nikon coolpix underwater/outdoor camera which takes great pictures and then I use a canon dslr! I think both of these brands take great pictures! Iv'e never used a Samsung though so I can;t speak for that brand!

I haven't tried either of these out so I'm not positive. We LOVE Nikon, though! We have a Nikon CoolPix S8100 for our point and shoot and it really takes pretty swell photos. And I have a Nikon DSLR as well. Love 'em both!
