Military Monday ~

Good morning! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. We had a very busy/ productive weekend, but more on that tomorrow.

Today, I am linking up with Ashley from Eights on the Move for Military Monday.

This weeks topic:

PCS Adventures!

Did you explore the Grand Canyon on your way to Cali? Or vaca in the Big Apple before moving to Europe? Maybe a road trip with various tourist stops along the way?

Did you drive? Fly? Ride a train or bus?

How much time did you take to PCS? Was your spouse/significant other able to be there with you or did you PCS on your own? Maybe help from family? Were you hauling all of your belongings or did the military move them for you?

S and I have not yet had to move together. Since I met him at the beginning of his Shore Duty in Charleston, we have spent the entire duration of our relationship here. He is getting very close to finishing up his third year, however, and we are very close to finding out where we will be off to next!

S has learned that he may have a few different options. The first option is a boat that is currently still under construction in Newport News, VA. If he were to go there, he would get to go through some special training, which would be great for him. However, Virginia is not our first choice.

The next option (hopefully) is Hawaii. You may have already seen my previous post about Hawaii, but it is definitely our first choice. It would be absolutely amazing to live there and we are crossing our fingers that it happens!

Our third option and probably second choice, would be a boat which is currently in Groton, CT. There is a rumor that this boat will be transferring to Hawaii in the next year or so, so that would still get us to our preferred destination.

We have talked a LOT about moving recently and what it is going to entail. If we go straight to Hawaii, we are going to plan an awesome cross-country adventure.

If we go to Connecticut, then Hawaii, it would make things very complicated. We would both move to CT (my home state) and then when it's time to move to Hawaii, S will have to go with the boat and I'd have to move us from Connecticut to Hawaii by myself. Awesome! We could potentially only be in CT for 6-12 months, so it would be difficult to get settled knowing that another move is on the horizon.

So that's it for the most part, in a nutshell.

I have a feeling that the next couple months is going to be a very busy/ exciting time. Looking forward to keep you all updated. We should have official orders by October!

What are your experiences with PCS-ing??

We have pcs'd twice, it can be stressful but also fun at the same time. I handled our last move by myself and it was a challenge but I got it done. :)

We've PCS'd twice, but we have never thought to make a traveling adventure out of it! The drive has never been more than 10 hours, so we have always knocked it out in 1 day. This last move we stopped midway to spend the night with my parents, so I guess that's as crazy as we have gotten! Excited for October to see where you will go!

XOXO
