As I mentioned yesterday, the Vickery's Oyster Roast is this Sunday so if you live around Charleston and are looking for something to do, you should definitely check it out. It is all outside on the water and it's supposed to be a beautiful 80 degree day.
Also, if you are interested in participating in a Holiday Gift Swap and haven't already signed up, look no further! Check out the linkup below for directions and rules. There are already a LOT of bloggers signed up so it should be really fun!
Gunner is just so spoiled. I said I didn't want a dog on the couch, but it's just so hard not to want to pick him up and cuddle. He got some extra special snuggle time with dad last night :)
I also tried out yet another recipe. I am on a roll! The one I chose this time was Smokey Corn Chowder with Shrimp. I would have to give this one a 3/5. I did like it and I know S REALLY liked it, but I think I would have done a couple things differently....like follow the recipe better. It calls for fresh corn off the cob, but I took a short cut and used canned corn. Frozen corn probably would've even been better. I think the canned was too sweet. It also calls for 3 ears of corn, but that's kind of hard to measure when you're not using fresh corn. I think it was just a little too sweet and I maybe over-did it on the corn. All in all, not too bad of an error, but I will do it differently next time.
On Monday night, I worked out with my new trainer for the first time. It was a free consultation session that he did with me just to assess my needs and get a little preview of what's to come. Let me just say that I am STILL feeling it. My abs are beyond sore. I usually do abs when I work out on my own, but apparently not like I did this week. I have decided to do two sessions per week and he is going to monitor everything from measurements and weight to nutrition and diet. I would love to lose 15 lbs by the time I go home for Christmas and 25 minimum overall. I would love to get back to where I was in college, but that was almost ten years ago and let's be honest, I am not 22 anymore. I would be happy with getting within 10 lbs of that weight though :) I have compiled the below collage for inspiration.
{Top left: 2004 (college graduation), Top right: 2005 (Florida vacay), Bottom left: 2007 (Aruba vacay), Bottom right: 2007 (Halloween)}
I plan on documenting my progress on my blog and hope that I can be an inspiration to some of you as well! Any tips, recipes, suggestions are welcome.
Hope you all have a FABULOUS weekend!
