Happy Friday y'all! Hope everyone had a great week. This week, I wanted to talk about a cleanse that I was thinking about doing and get some feedback on it. For the most part, I think it's relatively doable and healthy.
I found the cleanse through a fitness/health blog that I follow called Healthy is Happy. Happy is Healthy (aka Undressed Skeleton, which I have mentioned before). Taralynn, the girl behind the blog, has worked with a trainer and a nutritionist to put together a cleanse and a diet/workout plan for six lovely ladies who will be following the regimen over the next three months. So far they all seem to be doing great!
The cleanse lasts for seven days and is broken up in to three phases.
You can find the first phase here, but basically looks like this:
Phase One - Fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, non-fat organic yogurt, and lean protein.
Not so bad, right?
They even included a little dessert :)

The second phase, (days 3-5) is what gets me.
It's consists of ALL fruit. No canned fruit, dried fruit, or frozen fruit with sugar added (frozen fruit with no sugar added is okay.)
Sugar much? I mean, I guess I kind of get it and you can eat tomatoes and avocados since those are both actually fruits. I guess I would try to limit my intake of fruit that is really high in sugar.
The nutritionist explains,
"The fruit will introduce your body to
foods rich with water. Water rich food is easier on your digestive
system. They require less energy to digest than those foods based on
fats. Digestion takes a lot of energy and drains your body quickly. When
your body has less unhealthy foods entering, you experience an
immediate lift of energy. For the next couple days, the cleanse will
relieve your digestive system of over working itself .
The fruit will give your body energy,
important nutrients and release more toxins with the levels of water
entering. It’s important to eat during this phase. Fruits are naturally
low in calorie, so don’t forget to feed it more often. You should never
feel tired or hungry. If so, eat more: bananas, avocados, apples and
other nutrient rich fruits. Bananas are a great source of energy before
a workout during this cleanse."
The good part of this phase, is that they added a diclaimer,

Not for you? But, still want to participate?…
Add in : Nuts, Lentils, Fish, Protein Powder, 1 Grain a Day, Steamed Vegetables.
Yes, I will most likely add those!
Now, onto Phase 3.
At this point, you should be feeling cleaner and lighter. By now, you may find that you can fill up on foods that you wouldn't have before (ie. broccoli, baked chicken, apples, etc.)
Phase 3 basically just takes you back to Phase 1.
You can add back in lean protein, non-fat yogurt, etc.

So, that's pretty much it! Seems pretty easy, right? I think the most important factor here is that you are getting yourself on track to eat healthy. There really isn't a trick, it's just cutting out the processed foods and limiting your carb intake via grains, flours, etc.
Anyone else up for the challenge??
I think S and I are going to start this cleanse on Saturday. That way we can get the weekend out of the way in the beginning and still be able to maybe have a special dinner next weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day.
What are your thoughts and opinions? Would you try this?
I am in no way stating that I created this cleanse or came up with the idea. All information included in this post was derived from teamtaralynn.com. If you have any additional questions about the cleans, please feel free to contact her here!

Oh geez - I don't know if I could ever do a cleanse. This one seems better since it involves food and not just liquids. It looks like you are eating very healthy foods it in so I think it would kick start a nice eating plan. I am a vegetarian so eat a lot of fruits and veggies and do not think I could eat JUST fruits so it's nice they give you the option to add something else in.
It seems like you will be feeling lighter... if you get what I mean....
Also - HI! This is my second week on here but I don't remember if I said hi last week

This is intriguing. Are you going to do this?
Oooh I should have done this pre-Hawaii trip, too late now, but maybe afterward! Let us know how it goes!
I've never done a cleanse. I always hear mixed reviews. Curious how you feel after!
So I normally am not big on the whole "cleanse" idea, but I actually really like this one. Though the week two with only fruit wouldn't be for me, but I like the extra options on that one. Like you said, it's a lot about being intentional about eating healthily so I like that! :)
